@floriankunushevci discovered that GitHub’s internal tooling for creating deployments of GitHub Enterprise for QA testing did not automatically create an administrator account. This allowed attackers to create an administrator account and take control of the deployment before the QA process had begun. The QA deployment had no access to production data and no access to internal networks. We have addressed this issue by ensuring our tooling sets the administrator when it create a test GHE deployment to ensure no one can register as an administrator without permission.
